Intaneti ni mfumo kubwa ambayo mamilioni ya komputa na mifumo na uendeshaji wa mfumo wa aina zote inaweza kuwaunganisha. Hii ina maana kwamba mahusiano dunia pamoja.

Kutokana na uchunguzi ukiofanywa katika chuo kikuu cha Multimedia University kwa kutumia mtandao unaojulikana kama SurveyMonkey ni kweli kuwa idadi kubwa ya wanafunzi wa chuo hiki hutumia mtandao wa intaneti sana katika mawasiliano yao.

Si siri kuwa wanafunzi hao hutegemea intaneti kutuma na kupokea habari tofauti, cha kushangaza ni kuwa wanafunzi hao hawatumi intaneti sana kufanya kazi zozote wanayopewa na walimu, au kazi inayohusiana na masomo yao.

Ni kweli kuwa mtandao wa intaneti imeleta faida nyingi sana na kurahisisha kazi lakini pia ni kweli kuwa intaneti imewafanya wanafuzi wengi kuwa wazembe na kulitegemea sana katika maisha yao.

 

Njia Ya Kuepuka Msongamano Wa Magari Mjini Rongai

Msongamano mkubwa wa magari unaendelea kuathiri shughuli za kibiashara mjinj Rongai. Tokeo hili limewalazimisha watu wanaoishi mjini huo kuamka asubuhi na mapema ili kujaribu kuepuka kuchelewa kutokana na msongamano wa magari.

Kutokana na uchunguzi uliofanya kutumia mtandao wa SurveyMonkey ni kweli kuwa idadi kubwa ya  wakazi wa mji wa Rongai hawana njia yeyote wanoyoweza kutumia ili kuepuka msongamano wa magari, hawana budi ila kizoea tatizo hilo linalowakumba huku wakiomba afisa wa magari kuwasaidia.

Idadi ndogo ya wakazi wa mji wa Ongata Rongai wamejaribu njia mbalimbali ili kuweza kuepuka msongamano wa magari, wale waliofanikiwa ni wale wachache walioweza kurauka asubuhi na mapema lakini sio hakikisho kuwa wale waliorauka hawatakumbwa na tatizo hili,wakati mwingine huwa hakuna tofauti kubwa kati ya wale waliorauka na wale ambao hawakutoka mapema.

Kutokana na mtandao wa SurveyMonkey ni kweli kuwa watu wengi kutoka mjini Rongai hawana njia mwafaka ya kuepuka msongamano wa magari.

 

 

 

 

 

Social media tops list in information preference

47.62% of the survey conducted seek information through media than other news or updates.This is a high percentage considering that the second preference is News with 21.43 which is way half.

This clearly shows that most people trust social media in getting information that they want than other news platforms.16.67% use Updates as their main source of information.

7.14% use entertainment as a choice as their dependent source of information.4.76% prefer classwork and these most probably are students.

Msongamano Mkubwa wa Mgari Mjini Rongai

Neno Rongai linapotajwa ukiwa jijini Nairobi, kinachokuja akilini mwa wengi ni msongamano mkubwa wa magari. Mtaa huo ulio viungani mwa jiji la Nairobi ni maarufu kutokana na muda unaochukua kusafiri jijini ikilinganishwa na mitaa mingine kutokana na msongamano mkubwa wa magari hasa nyakati za asubuhi na jioni, ambapo idadi kubwa ya watu huelekea kazini au kurudi nyumbani. Wakazi wa mtaa huo wa Rongai ambao umebandikwa jina (Diaspora) kutokana na muda unaochukua kusafiri hadi mjini huo, walisema kuwa kuna vitu mingi vinavyosababisha msongamano wa magari.

Kutokana na uchunguzi uliofanywa kutumia mtandao wa SurveyMonkey, watuu wengi walidai kuwa msongamano wa magari mjini Rongai unatokana na barabara kuwa ndogo na wanataka barabara hiyo lifanyiwe ukarabati ili liwe pana.

Matatu is a preferred mode of transport in Ongata Rongai

According to the survey Rongai residents prefer using Matatu as their mode of transport. 50% use matatu according to the data collected. 45.24% of the residents prefer using Bus while 9.52% use private vehicles.

Many residents in Ongata Rongai prefer using Matatu as they are fast and have music.Since Ongata Rongai residents mainly comprises of youths ,matatu transport is there preference. Matatus are hugely loved as they can overlap during traffic peek hours.

Matatu transport is not that preferred as they do not have the comfort in terms of music and speed hence the residents do not prefer using them as a mode of transport.

Bus is the second preferred mode after the matatu .26.19% prefer the bus as their mode.This mainly comprises of adults who do not love loud music while travelling

Minibus follows in the list with a total of 16.67% of preference. ”””””””’9.52% of the residents use private means of transport.This maybe a result that most people in the area do not their own vehicles hence settle for the public ones.

The remaining 2.38% prefer other modes of transport apart from the Bus and the matatus.

 

How do you access the internet

A survey conducted with third year journalism students on internet usage had the following responses in relation to how we access the internet or which are the devices used by them.

With 83.33% of the responses going for mobile phones as their preferred internet surfing device, the students confirmed that most of them tend to use their handsets to surf the internet on a daily basis.

Close to the handsets, the laptop came in second with 11.90% of the students  using it in terms of internet surfing on a daily basis.

While both the desktop and the tablet scored the least score with 2.38% each thus making them the least used devices by the students for internet surfing.

 

 

Traffic a menace in the evening in Ongata Rongai

Nairobi city is the main business hub for many people. Rongai people are not exceptional as they have to get up to get to the city for their daily endeavors. As most people get to the city during the morning it raises many questions on how long it will take them to reach their homes during the evening.

Approximately 82.93% of the residents say that traffic is on the peak during evening as opposed to the 21.95% who say morning hours there is much traffic.

4% say that traffic occurs at afternoon while nobody says that there is no traffic during midday.

The high population in the area can’t be matched with the few number of transport vehicles available hence the residents are left with no other option but remain in traffic during the evening as it is the time they are retiring from their jobs.

Also private owned vehicles are behind this menace as they are many to the public owned ones. This brings about traffic as many vehicles are on the road during the evening.Here is a link of the research we conducted.

Reaction of different residents when caught on traffic

On a daily basis half of residents of Rongai are irritated by traffic when travelling from Nairobi town to Rongai  thus a major health risk to contracting stress related diseases and illnesses.

According to an online survey 51% of passengers caught on traffic congestion are irritated and spend more than one hour everyday they are travelling from town thus exposing many people to stress related diseases such as heart disease, diabetes ,asthama, depression and anxiety.

Most of these diseases are long term and cannot be treated but only managed and controlled. The cost of managing these long term disease are quite expensive with some diseases like Alzheimer’s disease c only  treated in specialized facilities in few hospitals .

Causes of traffic

From a survey answered by 44 people on the causes of traffic the results accrued show that most people believe that the major cause of traffic in Ongata Rongai is the nature of the  roads which are narrow.50% of the people stated that this is the menace motorists go through.

Another response chose by many in the survey is overlapping by this motorists.  25% of the audience claimed that this was the second most notorious causes long traffic jams in the area.

22.73% of the audience claimed that what causes traffic jam in Rongai is the presence of too many personal or private vehicles.

While 2.27% of the audience settled for too many public vehicles as a cause for the traffic menace in Rongai.

Things we do when caught up in traffic

From the survey conducted by our team on traffic in Ongata Rongai, the responses accrued on what people mostly do in the case they are caught up in traffic was different and varying. A large percentage of people who responded to the questions claimed to use social media in the incident they are caught up in traffic.

Another large group comprising of 34.88% of the people prefer listening to music when there is traffic congestion in Ongata Rongai.

18.60% of the people stated that they would occasionally  turn to gazing and staring outside  in the case they come across traffic jam.

The answers with the least percentage fell to sleeping and talking to each other with both settling for 4.86% and 2.33% respectively.

With this result it is evident that form the people responding, social media use is a common behavior when they are caught up in traffic while sleeping and talking to each other was not common among the target audience.
